I have always LOVED Shamrock shakes, since they first came out over 20 years ago....NOT ANYMORE! I like the other "McCafe" takes on shakes and coffee, but the NEW Shamrock Shake is AWFUL. It was WAY TOO GREEN, looked totally artificial, and the OVERLOADED FAKE MINT TASTE was HORRIBLE!!! It tasted worse than the worst mint toothpaste ever, and had extra green stuff in the bottom of the cup. I didn't mind the whipped cream and cherry, I ate the cherry first and actually the whipped cream helped dilute the overly sweet, fake mintiness of the shake. I WILL NOT be getting the Shamrock Shakes anymore, until they bring back the old formula, they can still add the whipped cream and cherry (but getting it without it should be an option for people who don't want it.) I miss the long ago flavor of the REAL Shamrock Shakes.

I have been drinking Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's for over 20 years now. Every year I make it a point to get them in March. This is the first year I actually bought one, took one sip, and threw it away. Now that McDonald's thinks they're a gourmet coffee house....they feel the need to ruin everything. The original McDonald's shamrock shake doesn't taste anything like the one they're serving this year. The recipe is completely different, the mint flavor is terrible and tastes cheap, it shouldn't have whip cream or a cherry on it. It's not even blended correctly anymore. McDonald's has completely sold out to the masses and it's appalling. Even this website is different now that everyone thinks they know what a shamrock shake tastes like. I liked this site much more...before Mcdonalds's decided to mass produce this false impersonation of the genuine Shamrock Shake.

I just heard about this "shamrock shake" about a couple of days ago. Right now, I'm currently drinking it and I have to say, that these are refreshing, minty, and has an amazing taste. You should keep them out longer because where I'm from, they are in high demand. They are really good.

Went through the drivethru last night (2/4/12) for a taste of their new Chicken McBites. I was stunned to see an ad placard for the Shamrock Shake, now under the auspice of McCafe! Fortunately I had a coupon for that too, and picked up a medium to go . . . It was great - very thick, with just the right amount of mint flavor! If they changed the recipe, they did it for the better - I drank half of it on the way home! I froze the last bit of it, and you know it tastes great as a frozen confection as well! I expect that it will last for another 6 weeks - I may have to get one a week, as a treat, til they're gone for another year . . .

Disappointing! The shake wasn't really mixed as the syrup seemed to be more on the outside of the glass than mixed throughout. Once the completely unnecessary whipped cream and cherry you could see how the center of the cup was nearly white. Also, the flavor seems to have changed. The mint isn't as strong and the consistency is different. Is this truly ice cream or some sort of substitute that is supposed to taste like it?

Way better than I expected. I'm a huge mint ice cream fan but usually favor peppermint. (Love chocolate, too, but KEEP THEM SEPERATE. No mint choc chip in my world.) This shake was green but good and tasted like real ice cream! Not like non-dairy creamer like their soft serve. My kids loved it, too. We all shared one and I'm a fan. Not minty enough to make me crave it, but very tasty!

It wasn't mixed like they used to be, and came in the plastic cup instead of the paper ones, but frankly, didn't bother me. I've been enjoying these babies a lonnggg time now, and this one was just as gud. (either that or im just not terribly critical). i had the whipped cream n cherry which i think is a great addition. so any1 who doesnt want theirs, give me lol. it's my tradition to get one every year!

Not the original recipe. Its colour isn't even solid green, its Vanilla with coloring. Also the aftertaste is way too minty, feels like I ate a chocolate mint opposed to original flavor which was a lighter more vanilla taste.

Can't believe it took so long to get a Shamrock shake in Texas. I only went in to check after reading about it online. There were no advertising signs, and it wasn't even on the menu as a shake selection! McDonalds needs to get a giant inflatable green shake tethered to the rooftop and then hire security to manage the crouds that would inevitably ensue. Shake was very nice...took me back to spring days back up north.

So sad. I went three times, just being optimistic that it was a fluke, but ended up actually returning the last two. Only the top half was green; when I asked for more mint I was told it was premeasured. And whose idea was it to put on the whipped cream and cherry? Yuck.
